The Big Over Easy by Jasper Fforde

Humpty Dumpty is dead. Was he murdered or was it suicide? It's up to Jack Spratt and Mary Mary to find out what really happened to Humpty as he sat on that wall in The Big Over Easy, Jasper Fforde's first entry in his new Nursery Crimes Division mystery series.

Fforde has written a very clever book, and it's fun to see what he does with incidents like the scalding death of Mr Wolff as well as those illegal straw-into-gold dens and how they should be disposed of. Jack also battles the hierarchy at the police station as well as the undermining of his position by members of the police department committed to keeping Jack out of The Guild.

The Big Over Easy was entertaining, but it was a bit long. I do, however, look forward to reading the next book in this series just to see what challenges confront Jack Spratt next.

I read this book for the Readers In Thongs Weight Loss Book Challenge

The book weighs 11 ounces.
