The Bus Ride

"Each week, 3WW will post three (or more) random words. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to write something using all of those words. It can be a few lines, a story, a poem, anything. I'll also attempt to write something using the same three words.

Leave a comment if you participate. Many fun and interesting people might visit your blog.

This week's words are:
Cope
Revealed
Stick"

I know I am a week late with this one. Tough noogies.

The Bus Ride

I must be out of my mind.

I'm sitting on a bus headed for the gambling capital of the East Coast to meet a man I know nothing about except for what he's told me in email messages and only met online because we both like Ed McBain. The trip to see him covers roughly 90 miles and because of the bus route, it'll take me 3 hours to get there. So far I've seen some pretty funky sights -- mostly the backs of malls where one room bus stations are full of people waiting to make connections from one place to another.

When I thought about this trip, I never envisioned having to cope with sitting next to a hulking, sweaty guy sporting a mullet and a mustache (both showing evidence of the debris of every meal he's eaten during the past week), and a t-shirt bearing the invitation to "Say Howdy To My Love Muscle". He's also the chatty type and revealed to me only seconds after he plopped his enormous butt down next to me that if his hog hadn't broken down he wouldn't have to be taking the bus. I had the feeling the hog to which he referred was the animal type and not the bike.

Fortunately Dude (that's what he told me to call him) only sat next to me until we reached the next strip mall bus station. Before he left, he offered me a stick of gum and told me it sure was nice making my acquaintance. I declined the gum -- it's my policy that when a guy wearing a shirt advertising his Love Muscle offers you a stick of anything, graciously, but firmly, refuse.

As Dude got off the bus, new arrivals came on board. And, oh my God, just look at what's coming my way now....

To Be Continued

Another very humorous tale, Manky. I could easily see this becoming a series. Tales From The Back Of The Bus.
